Well Spiced Beans
Yield: 7 (1 cup) servings; 3 points per serving
Vegetable Broth
3 c Great Northern Beans,Dried
1 T Sea Salt
1 1/2 t Chili Powder
1 1/2 t Paprika
1 1/2 t Cumin Powder
1 t Pepper
1 cn Green Chiles,Diced (4 oz)
(Can also add chopped carrots and onions)
Soak beans in vegetable broth to cover by 2 inches for at least 12 hours, adding water if necessary to keep beans covered. Bring to a boil. Lower heat and simmer for 45 minutes to 1 hour, adding more broth if necessary.
Add salt, chili powder, pepper, and green chilies. Simmer 30 minutes longer or until beans are tender. Do not mash beans.
